Harry Otten Foundation Distinguished Innovator Prize – deployment

The €10,000 ‘Distinguished Innovator’ prize award to Andrew Eccleston at the EMS Conference in Ljubljana in September 2025 has now been divided between 2 charities with which Andrew has a long-standing relationship as a Volunteer and Trustee.

Horizons Children’s Sailing Charity

The award from the Harry Otten Foundation will be used to enable 12 young people supported by Horizons Plymouth to participate in voyage on the tall ship ’Johanna Lucretia’ operated by the Island Trust https://www.theislandtrust.org.uk/ Andrew knows from his own experience that this will be a life-changing opportunity for these children who live in the inner city.

 

Devon and Cornwall Refugee Support

DCRS will be moving to much larger premises to open a ‘Community Hub’ which will bring together 3 other charities to provide a wider range of services and promote social cohesion. The award from the Harry Otten Foundation will be used to support the capital cost of adapting the building for its new role.
